About Dawn...
Dawn started her career in sales for Glaxo pharmaceuticals, followed by a move into orthopaedics. She completed her second degree in Osteopathy at Kingston University, qualifying with distinction in 1995 and subsequently set up her own busy osteopathic clinic in Box. Although her clinic treated all types and ages of people, she particularly enjoyed treating sports injuries from local rugby clubs and Bath University’s Sports Centre of Excellence. Personally, Dawn was an ex-county swimmer, short course triathlete and now prefers Ashtanga yoga.
Dawn sold her clinic in 2003, giving her a short while to get married and have two boys before she resumed work on a part-time basis at The Gym UK and Park Lane Practice in Chippenham. Her 12 years of experience of treating all types of spinal, joint and muscle pain has given her a common sense philosophy of "find it...fix it....and show you how to prevent it coming back"! Dawn is registered with the General Osteopathic Council and British Osteopathic Association and as such is recognised by all major insurance companies like BUPA, PPP and HSA.
How can she help you?.....
Dawn uses her hands and feet in an ever expanding repertoire of techniques
to help restore normal function to the spine, muscle or joint. She also
uses electrotherapy and laser for faster healing of sports injuries and
acute pain conditions, such as trapped nerves and inflammation.
In addition, Dawn is a qualified ergonomic workstation assessor, and as such,
tackles the often causal factors of poor posture, repetitive typing and
mouse work that strain the spine, neck, arms and hands. The assessments are
carried out at people’s offices and workstations.
With a view to helping people prevent their own back problems from returning,
Dawn runs "Back into Shape" exercise classes. These are
courses of 4 weekly sessions of simple and highly effective back exercises.
People are equipped with the knowledge of what is wrong with their backs, why
they are in pain and what they can do about it for themselves. Where time allows,
Dawn mobilises people’s spine using her feet to help get stiff spinal
segments moving again. The classes are fun and are highly individualised and
are also a must for all those wanting to prevent back pain.
Dawn is happy to discuss patient’s questions prior to an
appointment or class.
